耶穌獨自禱告的時候，門徒也同他在那裏。耶穌問他們：「眾人說我是誰？」他們回答：「是施洗的約翰；有人說是以利亞；還有人說是古時的一個先知又活了。」耶穌問他們：「你們說我是誰？」彼得回答：「是上帝所立的基督。」

因為人子來，並不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，並且要捨命作多人的贖價。」

但要讓你們知道，人子在地上有赦罪的權柄」，於是對癱子說：「起來！拿你的褥子回家去吧。」

他又說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們將要看見天開了，上帝的使者在人子身上，上去下來。」

凡說話干犯人子的，還可得赦免；但是說話干犯聖靈的，今世來世總不得赦免。」

「當人子在他榮耀裏，同着眾天使來臨的時候，要坐在他榮耀的寶座上。

摩西在曠野怎樣舉蛇，人子也必須照樣被舉起來，

並且賜給他施行審判的權柄，因為他是人子。

他回答：「那撒好種的就是人子，

約拿三日三夜在大魚肚腹中，同樣，人子也要三日三夜在地裏面。

人子要差遣他的使者，把一切使人跌倒的和作惡的從他國裏挑出來，

耶穌說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有枕頭的地方。」

耶穌離開那裏，退到推羅、西頓境內。

就說：「我看見天開了，人子站在上帝的右邊。」

我在夜間的異象中觀看，看哪，有一位像人子的，駕着天上的雲而來，被領到亙古常在者面前。

凡在這淫亂罪惡的世代，把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在他父的榮耀裏與聖天使一同來臨的時候，也要把那人當作可恥的。」

因為人子是安息日的主。」

眾人就回答他：「我們聽見律法書上說，基督是永存的；你怎麼說，人子必須被舉起來呢？這人子是誰呢？」

既然兒女同有血肉之軀，他也照樣親自成了血肉之軀，為能藉着死敗壞那掌管死權的，就是魔鬼，並要釋放那些一生因怕死而作奴隸的人。誠然，他並沒有幫助天使，而是幫助了亞伯拉罕的後裔。所以，他凡事應當與他的弟兄相同，為要在上帝的事上成為慈悲忠信的大祭司，為百姓的罪獻上贖罪祭。既然他自己被試探而受苦，他能幫助被試探的人。
