『爾徒違古人遺規、不盥手而食何也？』

When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that He did not first perform the ritual washing before dinner.

They observed that some of His disciples were eating their bread with unclean— that is, unwashed— hands.

If you died with the Messiah to the elemental forces of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:“ Don’t handle, don’t taste, don’t touch”?All these regulations refer to what is destroyed by being used up; they are commands and doctrines of men.Although these have a reputation of wisdom by promoting ascetic practices, humility, and severe treatment of the body, they are not of any value in curbing self-indulgence.

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.

Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him,“ Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands?”

For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from the fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold,

Then God said,“ Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for festivals and for days and years.
