Luke 9:10-17
When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything they had done. Then he slipped quietly away with them toward the town of Bethsaida. But the crowds found out where he was going, and they followed him. He welcomed them and taught them about the Kingdom of God, and he healed those who were sick.Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said,“ Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night. There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.”But Jesus said,“ You feed them.”“ But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.“ Or are you expecting us to go and buy enough food for this whole crowd?”For there were about 5,000 men there. Jesus replied,“ Tell them to sit down in groups of about fifty each.”So the people all sat down.Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!

John 6:1-15
After this, Jesus crossed over to the far side of the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias.A huge crowd kept following him wherever he went, because they saw his miraculous signs as he healed the sick. Then Jesus climbed a hill and sat down with his disciples around him.( It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration.)Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked,“ Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?”He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.Philip replied,“ Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!”Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up.“ There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”“ Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes.( The men alone numbered about 5,000.)Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples,“ Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.”So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. When the people saw him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed,“ Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting!”When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.

Mark 6:30-44
The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said,“ Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone. But many people recognized them and saw them leaving, and people from many towns ran ahead along the shore and got there ahead of them.Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.Late in the afternoon his disciples came to him and said,“ This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late.Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.”But Jesus said,“ You feed them.”“ With what?” they asked.“ We’d have to work for months to earn enough money to buy food for all these people!”“ How much bread do you have?” he asked.“ Go and find out.” They came back and reported,“ We have five loaves of bread and two fish.”Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of fifty or a hundred.Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish.A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed.

Matthew 15:32-38
Then Jesus called his disciples and told them,“ I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, or they will faint along the way.”The disciples replied,“ Where would we get enough food here in the wilderness for such a huge crowd?”Jesus asked,“ How much bread do you have?” They replied,“ Seven loaves, and a few small fish.”So Jesus told all the people to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd. They all ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food. There were 4,000 men who were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children.
