当时约有四千人。耶稣遣散了他们，

那一天，耶稣从屋子里出来，在湖边坐下。

耶稣随即催促他的门徒们上船，要他们先往对岸的伯赛达去；这期间，他自己遣散了人群。

彼得对耶稣说：“请把这个比喻解释给我们听。”耶稣说：“到如今，你们也无知吗？

于是他的门徒当中有的彼此问：“他对我们说‘过一会儿，你们就看不到我了；再过一会儿，你们又将见到我’，还说‘是因为我要到父那里去’，这是什么意思呢？”他们又说：“他说的‘过一会儿’是什么意思呢？我们不明白他在说什么。”耶稣知道他们想要问他，就对他们说：“我刚才说‘过一会儿，你们就看不到我了；再过一会儿，你们又将见到我’，你们就为了这话彼此议论吗？“我确确实实地告诉你们：你们将会痛哭、哀号，这世界反而会喜乐；你们将会忧伤，然而你们的忧伤要变成喜乐。

耶稣回答他们，说：“天国的奥秘已经赐下来让你们知道，而没有赐给那些人；

耶稣进了屋子，那两个瞎眼的来到他面前。耶稣问他们：“你们相信我能做这件事吗？”他们回答说：“主啊，是的，我们信。”

耶稣离开人群，一进了房子，他的门徒们就问他这比喻的意思。

耶稣立刻催促门徒们上船，要他们先往对岸去；这期间，他自己遣散了人群。

耶稣遣散了人群以后，就上了船，来到茉加丹地区。

他向众人讲话，没有不用比喻的。可是，他却单独给自己的门徒们解释一切。
