“ When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

“ What happens when an evil spirit comes out of a person? It goes through dry areas looking for a place to rest. But it doesn’t find it.

“ When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none.

“ When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it roams through waterless places looking for rest but doesn’t find any.

“ Now when the unclean spirit comes out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it.

“ When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice,“ What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.”For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man.( For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.)Jesus then asked him,“ What is your name?” And he said,“ Legion,” for many demons had entered him.And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission.

“ Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord God,“ when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it.“ In that day the lovely virgins and the young men shall faint for thirst.

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

And behold, they cried out,“ What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”

And crying out with a loud voice, he said,“ What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”For he was saying to him,“ Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”And Jesus asked him,“ What is your name?” He replied,“ My name is Legion, for we are many.”And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country.Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside,and they begged him, saying,“ Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.”So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea.

The Lord said to Satan,“ From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”

And the Lord said to Satan,“ From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”

then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lie down, the grass shall become reeds and rushes.

And he said to me,“ This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh.And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt.And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
