“有个污灵从一个人身上出来以后，走遍无水之地，寻找安歇的地方，却找不到，就说：‘我要回到我离开的那屋里去。’于是它回去，发现那里已被打扫干净，摆设整齐，就去带了另外七个比自己更邪恶的灵，进去住在那里。那个人最后的情况就比先前更坏了。”

他一看见耶稣，就喊叫起来，俯伏在耶稣面前，大声说：“至高神的儿子耶稣，我与你有什么关系？求求你不要折磨我！”这是因为耶稣吩咐污灵从那个人身上出来。原来污灵曾多次抓住那个人，虽然他被铁链和脚镣捆锁，被看守着，可是他挣断锁链，被鬼魔驱逐到旷野去。耶稣问他：“你叫什么名字？”他回答说：“军团。”因为有许多鬼魔进到他里面。那些鬼魔央求耶稣不要命令它们进无底坑去。当时，那里有一大群猪正在山上吃食。那些鬼魔就央求耶稣准许它们进入那些猪里，耶稣准许了它们。

我要在光秃的高地开江河，在山谷开泉源；我要使旷野成为水池，使干旱之地成为水源。

忽然，他们喊叫说：“神的儿子啊，我们与你有什么关系？时候来到之前，你就来这里折磨我们吗？”

大声喊叫说：“至高神的儿子耶稣，我与你有什么关系？我藉着神恳求你，不要折磨我！”这是因为耶稣对他说：“你出来，污灵！离开这个人！”耶稣问他：“你叫什么名字？”他回答说：“我名叫‘军团’，因为我们众多。”他一再央求耶稣不要把它们赶出那个地方。当时，那里有一大群猪正在附近的山上吃食。那些污灵就央求耶稣，说：“求你打发我们到猪群里，好让我们进入猪里面去吧！”耶稣准许了它们，污灵就出来，进入猪里面。那群猪约有两千头，它们从山崖冲到湖里，在湖里淹死了。

那时，瘸腿的必如鹿跳跃，哑巴的舌头也必欢唱。在旷野将有水涌出，在荒漠将有溪涌流。灼热的沙地将成为池塘，干涸之地将成为水泉；豺狗躺卧的巢，鸵鸟的窝都将变为芦苇和蒲草。

神哪，你是我的神，我切切寻求你！在干旱、疲乏、无水之地，我的灵魂渴想你，我的肉体渴盼你。

你们要谨慎，要警醒。你们的仇敌魔鬼就像咆哮的狮子走来走去，寻找可吞吃的人。
