Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying,“ Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.”

One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said,“ Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove your authority.”

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”

Then the Jewish leaders asked him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

The Pharisees came and began to ask Jesus questions. They wanted to test him. So they asked him for a sign from heaven.He sighed deeply. He said,“ Why do you people ask for a sign? What I’m about to tell you is true. No sign will be given to you.”

Others tested Jesus by asking for a sign from heaven.

As the crowds grew larger, Jesus spoke to them.“ The people of today are evil,” he said.“ They ask for a sign from God. But none will be given except the sign of Jonah.

So they asked him,“ What sign will you give us? What will you do so we can see it and believe you?

Jesus told him,“ You people will never believe unless you see signs and wonders.”

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus. They asked him to show them a sign from heaven.He replied,“ In the evening you look at the sky. You say,‘ It will be good weather. The sky is red.’And in the morning you say,‘ Today it will be stormy. The sky is red and cloudy.’ You know the meaning of what you see in the sky. But you can’t understand the signs of what is happening right now.An evil and unfaithful people look for a sign. But none will be given to them except the sign of Jonah.” Then Jesus left them and went away.
