一個壯漢拿著武器，看守自己的家園，他的家財就平安無事。但是一個比他更強的人來了，勝過了他，奪去他所倚靠的武器，就把他的家財當作掠物分了。

誰都不能進入壯漢的家，搶奪他的財物，除非先把壯漢捆綁起來，才可以搶劫他的家。

被搶去的怎能從勇士手中奪回呢？被俘虜的怎能從強暴者（按照《馬索拉文本》，“強暴者”作“義者”；現參照《死海古卷》和其他古譯本翻譯）的手裡救出來呢？

那一千年完了，撒但就要從監牢裡被釋放出來。他要出來迷惑地上四方的列國，就是歌革和瑪各，使他們聚集爭戰。他們的人數好像海邊的沙那麼多。他們上來遍滿了全地，圍住了聖徒的營和那蒙愛的城，就有火從天上降下來，毀滅了他們。

所以，我要使他與偉大的人同分，他必與強盛的均分擄物，因為他把自己的性命傾倒，以致於死。他被列在罪犯之中，卻擔當了多人的罪，又為罪犯代求。

我又看見一位天使從天上降下來，手裡拿著無底坑的鑰匙和一條大鎖鍊。他捉住了那龍，那古蛇，就是魔鬼，撒但，把牠捆綁了一千年。天使把牠拋在無底坑裡，關起來，封上印，使牠不能再迷惑列國，等到那一千年完了。以後，必須暫時釋放牠。

天上發生了戰爭：米迦勒和他的天使與龍作戰。龍和牠的天使也起來應戰，龍卻抵擋不住，天上再也沒有牠們的地方了。於是那大龍被摔了下來。牠就是那古蛇，名叫魔鬼，又叫撒但，是迷惑普天下的人的。牠被摔在地上，牠的天使也跟牠一同被摔了下來。我又聽見天上有大聲音說：“我們神的救恩、能力、國度和他所立的基督的權柄，現在都已經來到了！因為那晝夜在我們神面前控告我們弟兄的控告者，已經被摔下來了！

犯罪的是出於魔鬼，因為魔鬼從起初就犯罪。因此，神的兒子顯現了，是要除滅魔鬼的作為。
