一个壮汉拿着武器，看守自己的家园，他的家财就平安无事。但是一个比他更强的人来了，胜过了他，夺去他所倚靠的武器，就把他的家财当作掠物分了。

谁都不能进入壮汉的家，抢夺他的财物，除非先把壮汉捆绑起来，才可以抢劫他的家。

被抢去的怎能从勇士手中夺回呢？被俘虏的怎能从强暴者（按照《马索拉文本》，“强暴者”作“义者”；现参照《死海古卷》和其他古译本翻译）的手里救出来呢？

那一千年完了，撒但就要从监牢里被释放出来。他要出来迷惑地上四方的列国，就是歌革和玛各，使他们聚集争战。他们的人数好像海边的沙那么多。他们上来遍满了全地，围住了圣徒的营和那蒙爱的城，就有火从天上降下来，毁灭了他们。

所以，我要使他与伟大的人同分，他必与强盛的均分掳物，因为他把自己的性命倾倒，以致于死。他被列在罪犯之中，却担当了多人的罪，又为罪犯代求。

我又看见一位天使从天上降下来，手里拿着无底坑的钥匙和一条大锁链。他捉住了那龙，那古蛇，就是魔鬼，撒但，把它捆绑了一千年。天使把它抛在无底坑里，关起来，封上印，使它不能再迷惑列国，等到那一千年完了。以后，必须暂时释放它。

天上发生了战争：米迦勒和他的天使与龙作战。龙和它的天使也起来应战，龙却抵挡不住，天上再也没有它们的地方了。于是那大龙被摔了下来。它就是那古蛇，名叫魔鬼，又叫撒但，是迷惑普天下的人的。它被摔在地上，它的天使也跟它一同被摔了下来。我又听见天上有大声音说：“我们神的救恩、能力、国度和他所立的基督的权柄，现在都已经来到了！因为那昼夜在我们神面前控告我们弟兄的控告者，已经被摔下来了！

犯罪的是出于魔鬼，因为魔鬼从起初就犯罪。因此，神的儿子显现了，是要除灭魔鬼的作为。
