“ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say,‘ In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

人岂可夺取神之物呢？你们竟夺取我的供物。你们却说：‘我们在何事上夺取你的供物呢？’就是你们在当纳的十分之一和当献的供物上。

人怎可抢夺神之物呢？你们却抢夺属我之物，竟还问：‘我们抢夺了你的什么呢？’就是抢夺了当纳的十分之一和当献的祭物。

难道人会抢夺神吗？你们却抢夺我！你们竟然问：‘我们是怎么抢夺你的呢？’你们是在当纳的十分之一和当献的供物上抢夺我的。

人豈可奪取神之物呢？你們竟奪取我的供物。你們卻說：『我們在何事上奪取你的供物呢？』就是你們在當納的十分之一和當獻的供物上。

人怎可搶奪神之物呢？你們卻搶奪屬我之物，竟還問：‘我們搶奪了你的甚麼呢？’就是搶奪了當納的十分之一和當獻的祭物。

人怎可搶奪上帝之物呢？你們呢、竟搶奪了獻與我之物！卻還問說：「我們在甚麼事上搶奪了獻與你之物呢？」那就是當納的十分之一和當奉的獻物啊。

難道人會搶奪神嗎？你們卻搶奪我！你們竟然問：『我們是怎麼搶奪你的呢？』你們是在當納的十分之一和當獻的供物上搶奪我的。

人可行竊於上帝乎、爾乃行竊於我、爾曰於何行竊於爾、在於輸什一、及獻禮物也、

曰、人豈可欺上帝哉、惟爾欺我、爾曰、何欺爾、曰、不納什一、不獻禮物、

曰、人豈可欺天主哉、惟爾曹欺我、爾曹曰、在何事欺主、答曰、在當納之什一、在當獻之禮物、

“ Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.“ But you ask,‘ How are we robbing you?’“ In tithes and offerings.

“ Will a mere human being dare to steal from God? But you rob me!“ You ask,‘ How are we robbing you?’“ By holding back your offerings. You also steal from me when you do not bring me a tenth of everything you produce.

Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say,‘ How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions.

“ Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me!“ But you ask,‘ What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’“ You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.

“ Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!”“ How do we rob you?” you ask.“ By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions.

“ Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say,‘ How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

“ Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me!” You ask:“ How do we rob You?”“ By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions.

Can a person rob God? You indeed are robbing me, but you say,‘ How are we robbing you?’ In tithes and contributions!

Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

They said to Him,“ Caesar’s.” And He said to them,“ Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

“ Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform, the work of the tabernacle of meeting.Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die.But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever, throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.For the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer up as a heave offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I have said to them,‘ Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’”Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak thus to the Levites, and say to them:‘ When you take from the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them as your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it to the Lord, a tenth of the tithe.And your heave offering shall be reckoned to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor and as the fullness of the winepress.Thus you shall also offer a heave offering to the Lord from all your tithes which you receive from the children of Israel, and you shall give the LORD’s heave offering from it to Aaron the priest.Of all your gifts you shall offer up every heave offering due to the Lord, from all the best of them, the consecrated part of them.’Therefore you shall say to them:‘ When you have lifted up the best of it, then the rest shall be accounted to the Levites as the produce of the threshing floor and as the produce of the winepress.You may eat it in any place, you and your households, for it is your reward for your work in the tabernacle of meeting.And you shall bear no sin because of it, when you have lifted up the best of it. But you shall not profane the holy gifts of the children of Israel, lest you die.’”

And Jesus answered and said to them,“ Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.

You who say,“ Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

And He said to them,“ Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

“ Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:‘ When a man consecrates by a vow certain persons to the Lord, according to your valuation,if your valuation is of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old, then your valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.If it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels;and if from five years old up to twenty years old, then your valuation for a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels;and if from a month old up to five years old, then your valuation for a male shall be five shekels of silver, and for a female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver;and if from sixty years old and above, if it is a male, then your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for a female ten shekels.‘ But if he is too poor to pay your valuation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall set a value for him; according to the ability of him who vowed, the priest shall value him.‘ If it is an animal that men may bring as an offering to the Lord, all that anyone gives to the Lord shall be holy.He shall not substitute it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he at all exchanges animal for animal, then both it and the one exchanged for it shall be holy.If it is an unclean animal which they do not offer as a sacrifice to the Lord, then he shall present the animal before the priest;and the priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be.But if he wants at all to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth to your valuation.‘ And when a man dedicates his house to be holy to the Lord, then the priest shall set a value for it, whether it is good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand.If he who dedicated it wants to redeem his house, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall be his.‘ If a man dedicates to the Lord part of a field of his possession, then your valuation shall be according to the seed for it. A homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.If he dedicates his field from the Year of Jubilee, according to your valuation it shall stand.But if he dedicates his field after the Jubilee, then the priest shall reckon to him the money due according to the years that remain till the Year of Jubilee, and it shall be deducted from your valuation.And if he who dedicates the field ever wishes to redeem it, then he must add one-fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall belong to him.But if he does not want to redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed anymore;but the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, shall be holy to the Lord, as a devoted field; it shall be the possession of the priest.‘ And if a man dedicates to the Lord a field which he has bought, which is not the field of his possession,then the priest shall reckon to him the worth of your valuation, up to the Year of Jubilee, and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy offering to the Lord.In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return to him from whom it was bought, to the one who owned the land as a possession.And all your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs to the shekel.‘ But the firstborn of the animals, which should be the LORD’s firstborn, no man shall dedicate; whether it is an ox or sheep, it is the LORD’s.And if it is an unclean animal, then he shall redeem it according to your valuation, and shall add one-fifth to it; or if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation.‘ Nevertheless no devoted offering that a man may devote to the Lord of all that he has, both man and beast, or the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted offering is most holy to the Lord.No person under the ban, who may become doomed to destruction among men, shall be redeemed, but shall surely be put to death.And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the Lord.If a man wants at all to redeem any of his tithes, he shall add one-fifth to it.And concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.He shall not inquire whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; and if he exchanges it at all, then both it and the one exchanged for it shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.’”These are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai.

You also say,‘ Oh, what a weariness!’ And you sneer at it,” Says the Lord of hosts.“ And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick; Thus you bring an offering! Should I accept this from your hand?” Says the Lord.

Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.

Now before this, Eliashib the priest, having authority over the storerooms of the house of our God, was allied with Tobiah.And he had prepared for him a large room, where previously they had stored the grain offerings, the frankincense, the articles, the tithes of grain, the new wine and oil, which were commanded to be given to the Levites and singers and gatekeepers, and the offerings for the priests.But during all this I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I had returned to the king. Then after certain days I obtained leave from the king,and I came to Jerusalem and discovered the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God.And it grieved me bitterly; therefore I threw all the household goods of Tobiah out of the room.Then I commanded them to cleanse the rooms; and I brought back into them the articles of the house of God, with the grain offering and the frankincense.I also realized that the portions for the Levites had not been given them; for each of the Levites and the singers who did the work had gone back to his field.So I contended with the rulers, and said,“ Why is the house of God forsaken?” And I gathered them together and set them in their place.Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the storehouse.And I appointed as treasurers over the storehouse Shelemiah the priest and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah; and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were considered faithful, and their task was to distribute to their brethren.Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its services!

And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?” Says the Lord of hosts.

“ If a person commits a trespass, and sins unintentionally in regard to the holy things of the Lord, then he shall bring to the Lord as his trespass offering a ram without blemish from the flocks, with your valuation in shekels of silver according to the shekel of the sanctuary, as a trespass offering.And he shall make restitution for the harm that he has done in regard to the holy thing, and shall add one-fifth to it and give it to the priest. So the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.
