So honor will come to you who believe, but for the unbelieving, The stone that the builders rejected— this One has become the cornerstone,and A stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the message; they were destined for this.

Make sure that you do not reject the One who speaks. For if they did not escape when they rejected Him who warned them on earth, even less will we if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven.

But Israel, pursuing the law for righteousness, has not achieved the righteousness of the law.Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.As it is written: Look! I am putting a stone in Zion to stumble over and a rock to trip over, yet the one who believes on Him will not be put to shame.

In the same way, then, there is also at the present time a remnant chosen by grace.Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.What then? Israel did not find what it was looking for, but the elect did find it. The rest were hardened,as it is written: God gave them a spirit of insensitivity, eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear, to this day.And David says: Let their feasting become a snare and a trap, a pitfall and a retribution to them.Let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent continually.

If anyone disregards Moses’ law, he dies without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

“ Come, let us discuss this,” says the Lord.“ Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will be like wool.

Even if you wash with lye and use a great amount of soap, the stain of your sin is still in front of Me. This is the Lord God’s declaration.

But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”

They were saying,“ Isn’t this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? His winnowing shovel is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and gather the wheat into His barn, but the chaff He will burn up with a fire that never goes out.”

I will declare the Lord’s decree: He said to Me,“ You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.

Even now the ax is ready to strike the root of the trees! Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

“ Woe to you experts in the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge! You didn’t go in yourselves, and you hindered those who were going in.”When He left there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to oppose Him fiercely and to cross-examine Him about many things;they were lying in wait for Him to trap Him in something He said.

“ When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.

and His clothes became dazzling— extremely white as no launderer on earth could whiten them.

Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? “ Which of the two did his father’s will?”“ The first,” they said. Jesus said to them,“ I assure you: Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you!For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance!’So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”“ He will completely destroy those terrible men,” they told Him,“ and lease his vineyard to other farmers who will give him his produce at the harvest.”Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This came from the Lord and is wonderful in our eyes?Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing its fruit.Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whoever it falls, it will grind him to powder!”

When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to the place of his baptism, he said to them,“ Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance.And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!Even now the ax is ready to strike the root of the trees! Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.“ I baptize you with water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.His winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn. But the chaff He will burn up with fire that never goes out.”

As He was speaking, a Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and reclined at the table.When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that He did not first perform the ritual washing before dinner.But the Lord said to him:“ Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and evil.Fools! Didn’t He who made the outside make the inside too?But give from what is within to the poor, and then everything is clean for you.“ But woe to you Pharisees! You give a tenth of mint, rue, and every kind of herb, and you bypass justice and love for God. These things you should have done without neglecting the others.“ Woe to you Pharisees! You love the front seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.“ Woe to you! You are like unmarked graves; the people who walk over them don’t know it.”One of the experts in the law answered Him,“ Teacher, when You say these things You insult us too.”Then He said:“ Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.“ Woe to you! You build monuments to the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You lock up the kingdom of heaven from people. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.

Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the days when I deal with you? I, Yahweh, have spoken, and I will act.

And anyone who is not offended because of Me is blessed.”

She was given fine linen to wear, bright and pure. For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints.
