Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens. Birds have nests. But the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

耶稣对他说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

耶穌說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，只是人子沒有枕頭的地方。」

耶穌對他說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有枕頭的地方。」

耶穌對他說：『狐狸有洞，空中的飛鳥有窩，惟獨人子沒有枕頭的地方！』

耶穌曰、狐有穴、鳥有巢、惟人子無枕首之所也、

耶穌應之曰：『狐有丘、鳥有巢、人子獨無枕首地。』

Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

But Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.”

Jesus told him,“ Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

And Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Jesus told him,“ Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air[ have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay[ his] head.

Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have dens and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Jesus said to him,“ The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

My dear brothers and sisters, listen to me. Hasn’t God chosen those who are poor in the world’s eyes to be rich in faith? Hasn’t he chosen them to receive the kingdom? Hasn’t he promised it to those who love him?

“ Anyone who comes to me must hate their father and mother. They must hate their wife and children. They must hate their brothers and sisters. And they must hate even their own life. Unless they do this, they can’t be my disciple.Whoever doesn’t carry their cross and follow me can’t be my disciple.“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you sit down first and figure out how much it will cost? Then you will see whether you have enough money to finish it.Suppose you start building and are not able to finish. Then everyone who sees what you have done will laugh at you.They will say,‘ This person started to build but wasn’t able to finish.’“ Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. And suppose he has 10,000 men, while the other has 20,000 coming against him. Won’t he first sit down and think about whether he can win?And suppose he decides he can’t win. Then he will send some men to ask how peace can be made. He will do this while the other king is still far away.In the same way, you must give up everything you have. Those of you who don’t cannot be my disciple.

You know the grace shown by our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though he was rich, he became poor to help you. Because he became poor, you can become rich.

Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens. Birds have nests. But the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Joshua said to the people,“ You aren’t able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He won’t forgive you when you disobey him. He won’t forgive you when you sin against him.Suppose you desert the Lord. Suppose you serve the gods that people in other lands serve. If you do, he will turn against you. He will bring trouble on you. He will destroy you, even though he has been good to you.”But the people said to Joshua,“ No! We will serve the Lord.”Then Joshua said,“ You are witnesses against yourselves. You have said that you have chosen to serve the Lord.”“ Yes. We are witnesses,” they replied.

Jesus’ disciples heard this. Many of them said,“ This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about his teaching. So he said to them,“ Does this upset you?Then what if you see the Son of Man go up to where he was before?The Holy Spirit gives life. The body means nothing at all. The words I have spoken to you are full of the Spirit. They give life.But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe. And he had known who was going to hand him over to his enemies.So he continued speaking. He said,“ This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father helps them.”From this time on, many of his disciples turned back. They no longer followed him.

Lord who rules over all, even the sparrow has found a home near your altar. My King and my God, the swallow also has a nest there, where she may have her young.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him,“ You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”When the ruler heard this, he became very sad. He was very rich.
