As they were walking along the road, a man said to him,“ I will follow you wherever you go.”

Once Jesus and those who were with him were walking along the road. A man said to Jesus,“ I will follow you no matter where you go.”

“ But why can’t I come now, Lord?” he asked.“ I’m ready to die for you.”

Then one of the teachers of religious law said to him,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”But Jesus replied,“ Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.”Another of his disciples said,“ Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.”But Jesus told him,“ Follow me now. Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead.”

And all the people responded together,“ We will do everything the Lord has commanded.” So Moses brought the people’s answer back to the Lord.

As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.
