At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief.“ Why are you sleeping?” he asked them.“ Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.”

“ No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the Lord your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter,“ Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed,“ My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.

Then I heard the man speak, and when I heard the sound of his voice, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground.

Moses responded,“ Then show me your glorious presence.”The Lord replied,“ I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.”The Lord continued,“ Look, stand near me on this rock.As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind. But my face will not be seen.”

And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads.And there will be no night there— no need for lamps or sun— for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes

For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you.All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.
