耶穌又對大家說：「如果有人想要來跟從我，他就當否定自己，天天背起自己的十字架，然後跟從我。

耶穌諭眾曰：『人欲從予、務宜克己、日負其十字架、而隨予後。

Then he said to them all:“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Then he said to all of them,“ Whoever wants to follow me must say no to themselves. They must pick up their cross every day and follow me.

And he said to all,“ If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Then he said to the crowd,“ If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Then he said to them all,“ If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

And He was saying to them all,“ If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Then He said to them all,“ If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Then He said to them all,“ If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

And he said to[ them] all, If any[ man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Then he said to them all,“ If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

He said to all,“ If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

不背起自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不配屬於我。尋得自己生命的，將失去生命；為我的緣故失去自己生命的，將尋得生命。

「如果有人到我這裡來，而不恨自己的父親、母親、妻子、兒女、兄弟、姐妹，甚至自己的生命，他就不能做我的門徒。凡是不背著自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不能做我的門徒。

於是，耶穌把眾人和他的門徒們一起召來，對他們說：「如果有人想要跟從我，他就當捨棄自己，背起自己的十字架，然後跟從我。因為凡想要保全自己生命的，將失去生命；凡為我和福音的緣故失去自己生命的，將保全生命。一個人就是賺得了全世界，卻賠上了自己的生命，到底有什麼益處呢？人到底能拿什麼來換回自己的生命呢？在這淫亂、罪惡的世代，一個人如果以我和我的話為恥，當人子在他父的榮耀中，與聖天使們一起來臨的時候，也要以這個人為恥。」

因為你們如果順著肉體而活，就將死去；但如果順著聖靈治死身體的所作所為，就將活著。

愛惜自己生命的，就失去生命；在這世上恨惡自己生命的，將保全生命到永生。一個人如果要服事我，就當跟從我；我在哪裡，我的僕人也將要在哪裡。如果有人服事我，父將尊重他。

這恩典管教我們，使我們拒絕不敬神的事和地上的欲望，在今世能過自制、公義、敬神的生活，

所以，當把你們屬世的各個部分看為死了的，就如淫亂、汙穢、邪情、惡慾和貪心，貪心就是拜偶像。

其實，所有想要在基督耶穌裡過敬神生活的，也都會受到逼迫；

彼得把耶穌拉到一邊，開始勸阻他，說：「主啊，千萬不可，這事絕不能臨到你身上。」但耶穌轉身對彼得說：「撒旦，退到我後面去！你是我的絆腳石，因為你不是思想神的事，而是思想人的事。」於是，耶穌對他的門徒們說：「如果有人想要來跟從我，他就當捨棄自己，背起自己的十字架，然後跟從我。因為凡想要保全自己生命的，將失去生命；凡為我的緣故失去自己生命的，將尋得生命。

我們又為什麼要時時刻刻面臨危險呢？弟兄們，藉著我在我們的主基督耶穌裡所擁有的，就是我對你們的誇耀，我肯定地說：我天天都在死！
