While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.“ Your daughter is dead,” he said.“ Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

耶穌遂與偕往、及距宅不遠、百夫長遣諸友趨前代陳曰：『主毋勞駕！主入敝廬、非所敢當！

有會董、名雅依祿者、跪伏耶穌足前、求赴其家。蓋彼惟有一女、年十二、病瀕危矣。耶穌起行、人極擁擠。一婦患血崩者十有二年、曾就多醫、盡耗家貲；卒無能療之者、

言未畢、有人自會董家來報曰：『汝女已死、何復勞師？』耶穌聞言、謂會董曰：『勿懼、第信。』耶穌禁眾同行、惟攜伯鐸祿雅谷伯暨弟若望與偕。既抵其家、聞哀號之聲、狀至紛亂、進而謂眾曰：『何為喧嚷悲哭、女未死、乃睡耳。』眾皆笑之。耶穌遣眾出、率女之父母與偕來之徒、逕至女處、執其手曰：『大利達固米！』譯言『女郎、吾命汝起！』即起且行。女時年十二。眾睹此靈蹟莫不駭絕。耶穌嚴戒勿宣、惟命進食於女。

耶穌既抵會董家、見吹籥者已至、人聲嘈雜、狀至紊亂；乃諭之曰：『且退、女未死、第寢耳。』旁人嗤之。眾既疏散、耶穌入室、執女手、女起。於是聲名洋溢乎四境。

彼應於內曰：「毋擾！門已扃、且兒輩酣睡吾榻、不便起而供汝。」
