蓋我隸人權、有士卒隸我權、命此往則往、彼來則來、命僕行是則行是、

蓋我權屬人、兵權屬我、命去即去、命來即來、令僕行是、即行是、

蓋我屬人轄、亦有兵屬我轄、命此去則去、命彼來則來、命僕行是則行是、

蓋予亦屬人權下、士卒又處予權下、諭此曰去即去、呼彼曰來即來、凡有所命、僕必從焉。』

For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one,‘ Go,’ and he goes; and that one,‘ Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant,‘ Do this,’ and he does it.

I myself am a man who is under authority. And I have soldiers who obey my orders. I tell this one,‘ Go,’ and he goes. I tell that one,‘ Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant,‘ Do this,’ and he does it.”

I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say,‘ Go,’ and they go, or‘ Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves,‘ Do this,’ they do it.”

Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.

When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him,and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

Paul called one of the centurions and said,“ Take this young man to the tribune, for he has something to tell him.”

But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by,“ Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman citizen and uncondemned?”When the centurion heard this, he went to the tribune and said to him,“ What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen.”

Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled.Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things.

Then he gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but have some liberty, and that none of his friends should be prevented from attending to his needs.

Then he called two of the centurions and said,“ Get ready two hundred soldiers, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go as far as Caesarea at the third hour of the night.

“ Claudius Lysias, to his Excellency the governor Felix, greetings.

But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that, after we have examined him, I may have something to write.
