耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從會堂主管的家來，對睚魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，不要再麻煩老師了。」

人的自高，將使他降卑；靈裡謙卑的，必得榮耀。

你們當在主面前降卑，他就會高舉你們。

我再也不配稱為你的兒子，請把我當做你的一個雇工吧。』於是他起來往自己的父親那裡去。他離得還遠的時候，他父親就看到他，動了憐憫之心，跑上去摟住他的脖子親吻他。兒子說：『父親，我對天犯了罪，也在你面前犯了罪。我再也不配稱為你的兒子。』

就是神怎樣以聖靈和能力膏立拿撒勒人耶穌，他走遍各地行善，使所有受魔鬼壓制的人痊癒，因為神與他同在。

西門彼得看見，就俯伏在耶穌腳前，說：「主啊，離開我吧，因為我是個罪人！」

我確實地告訴你：除非你還清了最後的一個銅幣，否則你絕不能從那裡出來。「你們聽過那吩咐：『不可通姦。』

「我用水給你們施洗，是為了你們的悔改。但在我之後來的那一位，是比我更強有力的，我就是為他提鞋子也不配。他要用聖靈和火給你們施洗。

就像人子來不是為了受人的服事，而是為了服事人，並且獻上自己的生命，替許多人做救贖的代價。」

不過他賜下更大的恩典，所以經上說：「神抵擋驕傲的人，賜恩典給謙卑的人。」

他們來到耶穌那裡，殷切地求他說：「這人配得你的幫助，

你向你僕人所施行的一切慈愛和信實，我一點也不配。我先前只帶著一根杖過這約旦河，如今我卻擁有這兩隊了。
