For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say,‘ He has a demon.’

That is how it has been with John the Baptist. When he came to you, he didn’t eat bread or drink wine. And you say,‘ He has a demon.’

For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say,‘ He has a demon.’

For John the Baptist didn’t spend his time eating bread or drinking wine, and you say,‘ He’s possessed by a demon.’

For John the Baptist did not come eating bread or drinking wine, and you say,‘ He has a demon!’

Also you shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and drink.”For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Behold, I will cause to cease from this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.“ And it shall be, when you show this people all these words, and they say to you,‘ Why has the Lord pronounced all this great disaster against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’

Others mocking said,“ They are full of new wine.”

Then the Jews answered and said to Him,“ Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

And many of them said,“ He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?”

Then the Jews said to Him,“ Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say,‘ If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.’

Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!
