愚昧人既然沒有心智，為什麼手中還拿著銀錢要買智慧呢？

整個異象對你們就如封住的書卷裡的話。如果把這書卷交給識字的人，說：「請你讀一讀」，他必說：「我不能，因為它是封住的」；如果將這書卷交給不識字的人，說：「請你讀一讀」，他必說：「我不識字。」

他們說：「他要指教誰知識呢？他要使誰明白信息呢？難道是那些剛斷奶的嗎？是那些剛離開母懷的嗎？他命令加命令，命令加命令；條例加條例，條例加條例；這裡一點，那裡一點！」耶和華就是要藉著結結巴巴的嘴和異族人的舌對這子民說話——他曾對他們說「這是安息之所，讓疲乏的人得享安息吧，這是安歇之地」——但他們卻不願意聽從，因此耶和華的話語對他們就成了「命令加命令，命令加命令；條例加條例，條例加條例；這裡一點，那裡一點」，致使他們走路時向後跌倒摔傷，陷入圈套被纏住。
