They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other:“‘ We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.’

愚昧人既然没有心智，为什么手中还拿着银钱要买智慧呢？

整个异象对你们就如封住的书卷里的话。如果把这书卷交给识字的人，说：“请你读一读”，他必说：“我不能，因为它是封住的”；如果将这书卷交给不识字的人，说：“请你读一读”，他必说：“我不识字。”

他们说：“他要指教谁知识呢？他要使谁明白信息呢？难道是那些刚断奶的吗？是那些刚离开母怀的吗？他命令加命令，命令加命令；条例加条例，条例加条例；这里一点，那里一点！”耶和华就是要藉着结结巴巴的嘴和异族人的舌对这子民说话——他曾对他们说“这是安息之处，让疲乏的人得享安息吧，这是安歇之地”——但他们却不愿意听从，因此耶和华的话语对他们就成了“命令加命令，命令加命令；条例加条例，条例加条例；这里一点，那里一点”，致使他们走路时向后跌倒摔伤，陷入圈套被缠住。
