After John’s disciples left, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds.“ What kind of man did you go into the wilderness to see? Was he a weak reed, swayed by every breath of wind?

維時、施洗約翰至猶太野、言曰、天國邇矣、爾宜悔改、此人乃先知以賽亞所指者、曰、野有聲呼云、備主道、直其徑、夫約翰衣駝毛、束皮帶、食則蝗蟲野蜜、○斯時耶路撒冷、猶太、及約但四方咸出、

偽師猶枯井、若浮雲、為狂風所飄、必遭幽暗、永世無盡、

曰、我即聲呼於野云、直主道者、如先知以賽亞言、

約翰在野施洗、傳悔改之洗禮、俾得罪赦、舉猶太地、耶路撒冷人、出就之、各言己罪、悉在約但河、受洗於約翰、

然爾多欲、如水之沸、爾上父榻而污之、故不卓越於昆弟間。
