But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves.For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror.For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets what sort of person he was.But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out– he will be blessed in what he does.

But he replied,“ Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

“ Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!”

So whoever knows what is good to do and does not do it is guilty of sin.

eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,but wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition and do not obey the truth but follow unrighteousness.There will be affliction and distress on everyone who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek,but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.

“ If you love me, you will obey my commandments.

And by being perfected in this way, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and priceless in God’s sight,

The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.”“ Lord,” Judas( not Judas Iscariot) said,“ what has happened that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”Jesus replied,“ If anyone loves me, he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and take up residence with him.The person who does not love me does not obey my words. And the word you hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

If you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

Blessed are those who wash their robes so they can have access to the tree of life and can enter into the city by the gates.

Pay attention and come to me! Listen, so you can live! Then I will make an unconditional covenantal promise to you, just like the reliable covenantal promises I made to David.

If you know that he is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.

“ Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain in my love.If you obey my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete.My commandment is this– to love one another just as I have loved you.No one has greater love than this– that one lays down his life for his friends.You are my friends if you do what I command you.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.It is written in the prophets,‘ And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me.

But other seed fell on good soil and grew, and it produced a hundred times as much grain.” As he said this, he called out,“ The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never send away.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.

but you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.

Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in a time of testing fall away.
