A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up in his heart. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up in his heart. A person’s mouth says everything that is in their heart.

當以基督之道充實爾衷、智慧俱備、以詩、以歌、以靈賦、相教相戒、中心感恩、以頌上帝、

浮躁之言、如鋒刃之刺、智者之舌、有療疾之能、

如是、舌為小體、而誇大焉、些須之火、能燃若大之林、舌乃火、於百體中為不義之寰區、玷污一身、爇畢生之行動、其火乃由地獄也、蓋凡禽獸昆蟲鱗介皆可制、且已為人制、惟舌莫能制、乃不息之惡、充以死毒焉、

爾舌運用邪惡、如銛利之薙刀、詭譎是行兮、爾好惡逾於善、好誑逾於義兮、詭詐之舌、毀滅之言是好兮、

義者之舌、有如佳銀、惡者之心、所值無幾、義者之脣、以育眾庶、愚者乏識、陷於死亡、

厥喉如未封之墓、舌施詭詐、脣藏蝮毒、口盈呪詛荼苦、

言惟溫和、如調以鹽、則知所以應對人矣、○

彼眾與鄰言誑、厥口諂諛、中懷貳心、諂諛之口、誇大之舌、耶和華必絕之、彼曰、我舌獲勝、口為我有、誰為我主兮、

我上帝歟、爾旨我樂遵、爾律在我心兮、我於大會中、宣公義之嘉音、必不緘口、爾耶和華所知兮、爾之公義、我未匿之於心、爾之信實拯救、我已宣之、爾之慈惠誠實、於大會中、我未隱之兮、

設彼來見、言則虛妄、心蓄奸惡、出而道之兮、凡憾我者竊議我、謀害我兮、

願我於野得有旅邸、則可離我民而去、以彼俱為淫亂之徒、詭詐之黨、彼彎舌如弓、以發誑言、在國中為強大、而不行信實、行惡有加無已、而不我識、耶和華言之矣、爾曹各當謹防鄰里、勿信昆弟、蓋昆弟相欺特甚、鄰里往來讒毀、各迋其鄰、不言誠實、舌習誑言、作惡致憊、

惟淫亂及污穢貪婪、爾中言之亦不可、乃聖徒所宜也、淫詞、浮言、戲謔、皆非所宜、寧祝謝耳、

又云、斯日之後我與以色列家所立之約、乃以我律置其衷銘其心、我於彼為上帝、彼於我為民、

以此能予我、俾我手所按者、亦受聖神焉、彼得謂之曰、爾金與爾偕亡、因爾意上帝之賜、可以金而獲也、爾於此道、無分無與、因在上帝前、爾心不正也、故宜改悔此惡、祈主、庶幾爾心之念可赦、蓋我見爾在膽之苦、惡之繫也、
