Looking at his disciples, he said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Jesus looked at his disciples. He said to them,“ Blessed are you who are needy. God’s kingdom belongs to you.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said,“ God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.

Then looking up at his disciples, he said: Blessed are you who are poor, because the kingdom of God is yours.

And He raised His eyes toward His disciples and began saying,“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:“ Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then looking up at His disciples, He said: You who are poor are blessed, because the kingdom of God is yours.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed[ be ye] poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then he looked up at his disciples and said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.

He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said,“ Blessed are you who are poor, God’s Kingdom is yours.

Looking at his disciples, he said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.“ Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.“ But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. (niv)

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? (niv)

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. (niv)

“ Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. (niv)

“ Then the King will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. (niv)

I know your afflictions and your poverty— yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. (niv)

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.But the rich should take pride in their humiliation— since they will pass away like a wild flower. (niv)

sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. (niv)

Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (niv)

But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord. (niv)

and he began to teach them. He said:“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.“ Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. (niv)

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people. (niv)

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things— and the things that are not— to nullify the things that are,so that no one may boast before him. (niv)

“ But Abraham replied,‘ Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. (niv)

Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; (niv)

Better the poor whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse. (niv)

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (niv)

For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy:“ I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.I will not accuse them forever, nor will I always be angry, for then they would faint away because of me— the very people I have created. (niv)

Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. (niv)

You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. (niv)

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord.“ These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word. (niv)

When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus,“ Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.” (niv)

Pointing to his disciples, he said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers.For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (niv)

strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.“ We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. (niv)

So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours,whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future— all are yours,and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God. (niv)

“ The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, (niv)

“ Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law— there is a curse on them.” (niv)

In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. (niv)

It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the Lord. (niv)

“ There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. (niv)

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. (niv)

Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers!Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (niv)
