耶穌舉目看著他的門徒們，說：「貧乏的人是蒙福的，因為神的國是你們的。

耶穌舉目視門徒曰、貧者福矣、以上帝國乃爾所有也、

耶穌舉目視門徒曰、爾貧者福矣、以天主之國、乃爾之國也、

耶穌舉目視諸徒曰：『福哉爾貧者、天國爾曹屬。

Looking at his disciples, he said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Jesus looked at his disciples. He said to them,“ Blessed are you who are needy. God’s kingdom belongs to you.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then looking up at his disciples, he said: Blessed are you who are poor, because the kingdom of God is yours.

And He raised His eyes toward His disciples and began saying,“ Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:“ Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then looking up at His disciples, He said: You who are poor are blessed, because the kingdom of God is yours.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed[ be ye] poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Then he looked up at his disciples and said:“ Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God belongs to you.

He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said,“ Blessed are you who are poor, God’s Kingdom is yours.

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said,“ God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied. God blesses you who weep now, for in due time you will laugh.What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.“ What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now.

Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

“ So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

“ Then the King will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.

“ I know about your suffering and your poverty— but you are rich! I know the blasphemy of those opposing you. They say they are Jews, but they are not, because their synagogue belongs to Satan.

Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them.And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.

Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.

The humble will be filled with fresh joy from the Lord. The poor will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Those who are left will be the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the Lord.

and he began to teach them.“ God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.“ God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump.He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people!

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you.Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

“ But Abraham said to him,‘ Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.

It is better to be godly and have little than to be evil and rich.

Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool.

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this:“ I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.For I will not fight against you forever; I will not always be angry. If I were, all people would pass away— all the souls I have made.

Better to live humbly with the poor than to share plunder with the proud.

So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord.

My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!“ I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.

Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed,“ What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God!”

Then he pointed to his disciples and said,“ Look, these are my mother and brothers.Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.

So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you—whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you,and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

“ Is there a single one of us rulers or Pharisees who believes in him?This foolish crowd follows him, but they are ignorant of the law. God’s curse is on them!”

He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.

They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.

That was the end of my covenant with them. The suffering flock was watching me, and they knew that the Lord was speaking through my actions.

“ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown out.

the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”

Then he looked at those around him and said,“ Look, these are my mother and brothers.Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
