當那時候，耶穌在安息日由麥地經過；他的門徒餓了，就掐起麥穗來喫。法利賽人看見，就對他說：『你看，你的門徒作安息日不可作的事了。』耶穌對他們說：『大衛和跟隨他的人餓着的時候所作的，你們沒有誦讀過麼？他怎樣進了上帝的殿，喫了陳設餅，就是他不可以喫，跟隨他的人也不可喫，惟獨祭司才可以喫的。又律法上說，當安息日祭司在殿裏瀆犯了安息日還是無罪：你們也沒有誦讀過麼？我告訴你們，有比殿更大的在這裏呢！你們若明白了「我喜愛憐憫，不喜愛祭祀」是甚麼意思，就不至於定無罪的為有罪了。因為人子就是安息日的主。』

頭一天要有聖聚會；甚麼勞碌的工都不可作。

『你要告訴以色列人說：你們到了我所賜給你們的地、收割莊稼的時候、要將莊稼初熟的一捆帶給祭司。他要把這一捆在永恆主面前搖一搖，使它為你們而蒙悅納；祭司要在第七日的次日搖獻它。

你們要喫無酵餅七天；頭一天、就要把酵從你們家中除去；因為從頭一天到第七天、凡喫有酵之物的、那人必須從以色列中被剪除。

『從第七日的次日、從你們把禾捆帶來做搖獻物那一天起、你們要為自己算七個足數的安息週；

『你要算算七個七日：從開始拿鐮刀收割站着的莊稼時開始、算到七個七日。
