And he arose and followed him.And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?When Jesus heard[ it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.And when the Pharisees saw[ it], they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?But when Jesus heard[ that], he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.But go ye and learn what[ that] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the[ son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James[ the son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any[ man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will[ my] Father honour.

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.And they straightway left[ their] nets, and followed him.And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James[ the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what[ shall] this man[ do]?Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what[ is that] to thee? follow thou me.
