Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips.“ Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

Wise hearts are known for understanding what is right. Kind words make people want to learn more.

He came to his hometown of Nazareth. There he began teaching the people in their synagogue. They were amazed.“ Where did this man get this wisdom? Where did he get this power to do miracles?” they asked.“ Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary? Aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?Aren’t all his sisters with us? Then where did this man get all these things?”

You are the most excellent of men. Your lips have been given the ability to speak gracious words. God has blessed you forever.

The Lord and King has taught me what to say. He has taught me how to help those who are tired. He wakes me up every morning. He makes me want to listen like a good student.

When the Sabbath day came, he began to teach in the synagogue. Many who heard him were amazed.“ Where did this man get these things?” they asked.“ What’s this wisdom that has been given to him? What are these remarkable miracles he is doing?Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son? Isn’t this the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” They were not pleased with him at all.

No one can question the truth. So teach what is true. Then those who oppose you will be ashamed. That’s because they will have nothing bad to say about us.

He did his best to find just the right words. And what he wrote was honest and true.The sayings of those who are wise move people to take action. Their collected sayings are like nails pounded in firm and deep. These sayings are given to us by one shepherd.

But he was too wise for them. That’s because the Holy Spirit gave Stephen wisdom whenever he spoke.

“ No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied.

The right ruling at the right time is like golden apples in silver jewelry.

His mouth is very sweet. Everything about him is delightful. That’s what the one who loves me is like. That’s what my friend is like, women of Jerusalem.”

Everyone who heard him was amazed at how much he understood. They also were amazed at his answers.

I will give you words of wisdom. None of your enemies will be able to withstand them or prove them wrong.

Those who do right know the proper thing to say. But those who do wrong speak only twisted words.

In your majesty ride out with power to fight for what is true, humble and fair. Let your right hand do wonderful things.
