This is the declaration of the Lord to my Lord:“ Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right handuntil I make Your enemies Your footstool.’

Now to which of the angels has He ever said: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool?

Then He told them,“ These are My words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

He asked them,“ How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him‘ Lord’:The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet’?“ If David calls Him‘ Lord,’ how then can the Messiah be his Son?”

For He must reign until He puts all His enemies under His feet.

These are the last words of David: The declaration of David son of Jesse, the declaration of the man raised on high, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, the favorite singer of Israel:The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me, His word was on my tongue.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you hear His voice,

David himself says by the Holy Spirit: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet.’David himself calls Him‘ Lord’; how then can the Messiah be his Son?” And the large crowd was listening to Him with delight.

God has fulfilled this for us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second Psalm: You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.Since He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way, I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings made to David.Therefore He also says in another passage, You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.

“ For it is written in the Book of Psalms: Let his dwelling become desolate; let no one live in it; and Let someone else take his position.
