Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

So Joseph went also. He went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea. That is where Bethlehem, the town of David, was. Joseph went there because he belonged to the family line of David.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”

Yahweh said to Samuel,“ How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite; for I have provided a king for myself among his sons.”

Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary.

and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets that he will be called a Nazarene.

He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers,“ May Yahweh be with you.” They answered him,“ May Yahweh bless you.”

Saul said to him,“ Whose son are you, you young man?” David answered,“ I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. When they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was excited about them, and they asked,“ Is this Naomi?”

Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath( also called Bethlehem).

The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying,“ A son is born to Naomi”. They named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath( also called Bethlehem).”

If your father misses me at all, then say,‘ David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city; for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.’

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,“ Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.They said to him,“ In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,‘ You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah: for out of you shall come a governor, who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”

Samuel did that which Yahweh spoke, and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling, and said,“ Do you come peaceably?”

Nathanael said to him,“ Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him,“ Come and see.”

All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which both built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons. The man was an elderly old man in the days of Saul.

and Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed,and Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.
