祂又對門徒說：「時候將到，你們將渴望見到人子降臨的日子，可是你們卻見不到。

他又对门徒说：“日子将到，你们巴不得看见人子的一个日子，却不得看见。

他又对门徒说：“那些日子将到，你们渴望能看见人子的一个日子，却看不见。

他又对门徒说：“那些日子将到，你们渴望能看见人子的一个日子，却看不见。

祂又对门徒说：“时候将到，你们将渴望见到人子降临的日子，可是你们却见不到。

耶稣又对门徒们说：“日子将要来到，那时候你们会渴望看见人子日子中的一天，可是看不到。

又語其徒曰、時將至、爾欲見人子之一日而不得見、

又謂門徒曰：『時日將至、爾曹欲親歷人子之一日、亦不可得。

耶穌對他們說：「新郎和賓客還在一起的時候，賓客怎能悲傷呢？但有一天新郎將被帶走，那時他們就要禁食了。

「不久，你們就見不到我了，再過不久，你們還會看見我。」幾個門徒彼此議論說：「祂說，『不久，你們就見不到我了，再過不久，你們還會看見我』，祂又說，『因為我要去父那裡』，這到底是什麼意思呢？祂說『不久』是什麼意思呢？我們真不明白！」耶穌知道他們想問祂，就說：「你們在議論我剛才說的話是什麼意思嗎？我實實在在地告訴你們，你們將痛哭、哀號，世人卻要歡喜；你們將憂愁，然而你們的憂愁將變為喜樂。婦人分娩時都會痛苦不已，但孩子生下來後，她就會因為這世界添了一個新生命而充滿歡樂，忘掉了生產的痛苦。同樣，現在你們有憂愁，但到我再見你們的時候，你們的心必歡喜，而且這份喜樂是誰也奪不去的。

「現在我要去差我來的父那裡，你們沒有人問我去哪裡。因為我把這些事告訴了你們，你們心裡充滿了憂愁。然而，我把實情告訴你們，我去對你們是有益的，因為如果我不去，護慰者就不會來，我去了就會派祂到你們這裡來。

耶穌對眾人說：「我暫時還會跟你們在一起，不久我要回到差我來的那位那裡。那時你們要找我卻找不到，你們也不能去我所在的地方。」猶太人彼此議論說：「祂要去哪裡使我們找不著呢？難道祂要到我們猶太人僑居的希臘各地去教導希臘人嗎？祂說我們找不到祂，又不能去祂所在的地方，是什麼意思？」

但有一天新郎將被帶走，那時他們就要禁食了。

孩子們，我與你們同在的時間不多了，以後你們要找我，但我去的地方，你們不能去。這句話我以前對猶太人說過，現在也照樣告訴你們。

耶穌又對他們說：「我要走了，你們會尋找我，你們將死在自己的罪中。我去的地方，你們不能去。」猶太人說：「祂說祂去的地方我們不能去，難道祂想自殺嗎？」耶穌對他們說：「你們是從下面來的，我是從上面來的。你們屬於這世界，我不屬於這世界。所以我說你們將死在自己的罪中，你們如果不相信我就是那一位，一定會死在自己的罪中。」

看啊！你們的家園將一片荒涼。我告訴你們，在你們說『奉主名來的當受稱頌』之前，你們再也見不到我了。」

現在我要離開這個世界去你那裡了，他們卻仍然留在世上。聖父啊，求你為了自己的名，就是你賜給我的名而保守他們，使他們像我們一樣合而為一。我和他們在一起的時候，靠著你賜給我的名保守他們，看顧他們。除了那個注定滅亡的人以外，他們一個也沒有滅亡，這是為了應驗聖經上的話。「現在我要去你那裡了，我趁著還在世上的時候這樣說，是要叫他們心裡充滿我的喜樂。

耶穌對他們說：「光在你們中間照耀的時候不多了，你們要趁著有光的時候走路，免得黑暗來臨後，走在黑暗裡的人不知道要往哪裡去。
