你們這些淫亂的人哪，豈不知道與世俗為友就是與上帝為敵嗎？所以，凡想要與世俗為友的，就是與上帝為敵了。

「無論甚麼人到我這裏來，若不愛我勝過愛自己的父母、妻子、兒女、兄弟、姊妹，甚至自己的性命，就不能作我的門徒。

因為，隨從肉體的人體貼肉體的事；隨從聖靈的人體貼聖靈的事。體貼肉體就是死；體貼聖靈就是生命和平安。因為體貼肉體就是與上帝為敵，對上帝的律法不順服，事實上也無法順服。屬肉體的人無法使上帝喜悅。

若你們認為事奉耶和華不好，今日就可以選擇所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神明，或是你們所住這地亞摩利人的神明呢？至於我和我家，我們必定事奉耶和華。」

不跟我一起的，就是反對我；不與我一起收聚的，就是在拆散。」

我又告訴你們，要藉着那不義的錢財結交朋友，到了錢財無用的時候，他們可以接你們到永遠的住處去。

耶穌說：「撒但，退去！因為經上記着：『要拜主－你的上帝，惟獨事奉他。』」

難道你們不知道，你們獻自己作奴僕，順從誰就作誰的奴僕嗎？或作罪的奴隸，以至於死；或作順服的奴僕，以至於成義。感謝上帝！因為你們從前雖然作罪的奴隸，現在卻從心裏順服了所傳給你們教導的典範。你們既從罪裏得了釋放，就作了義的奴僕。我因你們肉體的軟弱，就以人的觀點來說。你們從前怎樣把肢體獻給不潔不法作奴隸，以至於不法；現在也要照樣將肢體獻給義作奴僕，以至於成聖。因為你們作罪的奴隸時，不被義所約束。那麼，你們現在所看為羞恥的事，當時有甚麼果子呢？那些事的結局就是死。但如今，你們既從罪裏得了釋放，作了上帝的奴僕，就結出果子，以至於成聖，那結局就是永生。

耶穌對他說：「不要阻止他，因為不抵擋你們的，就是幫助你們的。」
