理味設盛筵、款耶穌於其家。同席者有稅吏、及其他多人。法利塞人與經生見而不悅、謂耶穌門徒曰：『爾等胡為與稅吏罪人共席？』耶穌曰：『無疾者不需醫、惟病者需之。予來非召義者、正欲召罪人悔過自新耳。』

移時、耶穌讌於其家、稅吏罪人、魚貫而至、與耶穌及諸徒同席。法利塞人見之、謂其徒曰：『爾師奚為與稅吏罪人同食？』耶穌聞之、曰：『康健者不需醫、惟病者需之。「予愛仁慈、不愛祭祀；」爾其歸而玩索斯語之義。蓋予之來、非召義者、惟召罪人耳。』

『爾曹於意云何：人有二子、諭其長者曰：「兒今日可往葡萄園工作。」對曰：「不願。」既而悔之、乃往。諭次子亦往、次子曰：「大人、我往。」然竟未往也。二者孰孝？』對曰：『長子。』耶穌曰：『吾實語爾、稅吏娼妓、將先爾曹入天主國。

眾與稅吏、咸受洗於如望、聞其言莫不稱頌天主至德；

夫法之所至罪之所彰也；而罪之所彰、恩亦彌盛。

且有後來居上、先來居下者焉。』
