When pride comes, then comes dishonor; But with the humble there is wisdom.

Haman then came in and the king said to him,“ What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?” And Haman said to himself,“ Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?”Therefore Haman said to the king,“ For the man whom the king desires to honor,have them bring a royal robe which the king has worn, and the horse on which the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal turban has been placed;then order them to hand the robe and the horse over to one of the king’s noble officials, and have them dress the man whom the king desires to honor, and lead him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him,‘ So it shall be done for the man whom the king desires to honor.’ ”Then the king said to Haman,“ Quickly, take the robe and the horse just as you have said, and do so for Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting at the king’s gate; do not fail to do anything of all that you have said.”So Haman took the robe and the horse, and dressed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him,“ So it shall be done for the man whom the king desires to honor.”Then Mordecai returned to the king’s gate, while Haman hurried home, mourning, with his head covered.

“ Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre,‘ The Lord God says this:“ Because your heart is haughty And you have said,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas’; Yet you are a mortal and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God—Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; There is no secret that is a match for you!By your wisdom and understanding You have acquired riches for yourself And have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries.By your great wisdom, by your trade You have increased your riches, And your heart is haughty because of your riches—Therefore this is what the Lord God says:‘ Because you have made your heart Like the heart of God,Therefore, behold, I am going to bring strangers against you, The most ruthless of the nations. And they will draw their swords Against the beauty of your wisdom And profane your splendor.They will bring you down to the pit, And you will die the death of those who are killed In the heart of the seas.Will you still say,“ I am a god,” In the presence of one who kills you, Though you are a mortal and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?You will die the death of the uncircumcised By the hand of strangers, For I have spoken!’ declares the Lord God!” ’ ”

The king began speaking and was saying,‘ Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?’While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying,‘ King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you,and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place will be with the animals of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.’Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.“ But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
