And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbors; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.

耶穌復告主人曰：『爾設宴時、毋邀良朋昆弟戚屬富鄰、誠恐若輩還禮、則爾獲報矣。

Then Jesus said to his host,“ When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.

Then Jesus spoke to his host.“ Suppose you give a lunch or a dinner,” he said.“ Do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, or your relatives, or your rich neighbors. If you do, they may invite you to eat with them. So you will be paid back.

He said also to the man who had invited him,“ When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid.

Then he turned to his host.“ When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” he said,“ don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward.

He also said to the one who had invited him,“ When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors, because they might invite you back, and you would be repaid.

Now He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him,“ Whenever you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor wealthy neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you to a meal in return, and that will be your repayment.

Then He also said to him who invited Him,“ When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.

He said also to the man who had invited him,“ When you host a dinner or a banquet, don’t invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors so you can be invited by them in return and get repaid.

He also said to the one who had invited him,“ When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.

For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, and there come in also a poor man in vile clothing;and ye have regard to him that weareth the fine clothing, and say, Sit thou here in a good place; and ye say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool;do ye not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment- seats?

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his gain, And he that giveth to the rich, shall come only to want.

Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same.And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.

Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?And when ye eat, and when ye drink, do not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?Should ye not hear the words which Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?

The hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.
