有迦南婦人來自彼域、大呼曰：『主、大維子、其垂憐焉。吾女為魔所祟、苦甚』耶穌不答、門徒請曰：『有婦呼於後、盍遣之去。』耶穌曰：『我之奉使、惟就義塞宅中亡羊。』婦趨前而拜曰：『主其助我。』耶穌曰：『豈宜取兒曹之餅、以投穉犬？』婦對曰：『主、誠然；惟几下穉犬、猶得沾主人餅屑。』耶穌曰：『女兒、大哉爾信！依爾所願、成全於爾。』其女遂於此時霍然而愈。

爾之同鄉、基督之僕、伊伯弗拉、亦祝爾平安。此君在祈禱中、恆為爾等祈求、使爾等在天主聖意之中、確立不移、廓然無疑、俾成完人。

因是吾雖曾三次求主脫吾於此苦、

爾等應知予為爾等及老底嘉同人之故、且為未曾睹面者之故、如何勞心焦思、而為之努力奮鬥也。予之為此、亦欲有以鼓勵同人之心、
