禍哉爾教法師乎、因爾奪知識之鑰、爾自不進、有欲進者、爾則阻之、

哀哉明律士！爾曹奪去知識之管籥、己不願進、亦不容人之進也。』

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in[ yourselves], neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he[ is] the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner[ or no], I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear[ it] again? will ye also be his disciples?Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.We know that God spake unto Moses:[ as for] this[ fellow], we know not from whence he is.The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and[ yet] he hath opened mine eyes.Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.Nicodemus saith unto them,( he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)Doth our law judge[ any] man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.And he said, Woe unto you also,[ ye] lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten[ them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
