耶稣出来，照他的习惯往橄榄山去，门徒们也跟着他。到了那地方，耶稣对他们说：“你们要祷告，免得陷入试探。”然后他抽出身，离他们约有扔一块石头的距离，跪下祷告，说：“父啊，如果你愿意，请把这杯从我这里拿走吧！但不要成就我的意思，而要成就你的意思。”有一位天使从天上向他显现，加添他的力量。耶稣在极大的痛苦中，祷告更加恳切；他的汗珠变得像大血滴，落在地上。祷告完了，他起身到门徒那里，看见他们因为忧伤都睡着了，

至于你们蒙爱的人哪，要在你们至圣的信仰上造就自己，藉着圣灵祷告，

耶和华啊，你垂听了卑微人的愿望！你使他们的心坚定；你侧耳倾听，

有一次，耶稣独自祷告的时候，门徒们和他在一起。耶稣问他们，说：“众人说我是谁？”

就在那些日子里，耶稣有一次出去到山上祷告；他整夜向神祷告。

况且，圣灵也照样扶助我们的软弱。事实上，我们不知道该祷告什么、如何祷告，但圣灵却亲自用说不出的叹息，为我们代求。而且，洞察人心的那一位，知道圣灵的意念是什么，因为圣灵是按神的意思为圣徒代求的。

说了这些话以后约八天，耶稣带着彼得、约翰、雅各上山去祷告。

耶和华——我的磐石、我的救赎主啊，愿我口中的言语、心里的默想，在你面前蒙悦纳。

你们渴望而不能拥有，就杀人；你们嫉妒而不能获得，就争斗、作战。你们不能拥有，是因为你们不求；你们求也不能得到，是因为你们求的动机不对，为了要花费在自己的私欲上。

基督在他肉身的日子里，曾经用强烈的呼号和泪水，向能救他脱离死亡的那一位献上了祈祷和恳求，就因着他的虔诚蒙了垂听。
