On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus.“ Teacher,” he asked,“ what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

One day an authority on the law stood up to test Jesus.“ Teacher,” he asked,“ what must I do to receive eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question:“ Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

Then an expert in the law stood up to test him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

法利賽人聞耶穌駁撒度該人、使之無辭以對、原文作塞撒度該人之口遂集、其中一教法師、試耶穌、問曰、師、律法諸誡、何為最大、耶穌曰、爾當盡心盡性盡意愛主爾之天主、此乃諸誡之首、且最大者、其次、愛人如己、亦如之、

有一紳宦問耶穌曰、善哉師也、我當何為以得永生、

導之出、曰、先生、原文作吾主我當何為、乃可得救、曰、當信主耶穌基督、則爾與爾家必得救矣、

時有一少者就之原文作有一人就之曰、善哉師乎、我當行何善、以得永生、耶穌曰、何為以善稱我、有原文抄本作何為問我以善天主外無一善者、爾欲入於生、則當守誡、曰、何誡、耶穌曰、勿殺人、勿姦淫、勿盜竊、勿妄證、敬爾父母、愛人如己、

惟法利賽人與教法師、未受其洗、彼拒天主之旨、而自取罪戾、

若嗣業由律法、則非由應許、然天主乃以應許恩賜亞伯拉罕、

有一教法師謂耶穌曰、師、爾言此、亦辱我儕、耶穌曰、禍哉爾教法師乎、因爾以難負之任、使人負之、而己則一指不按於上、
