「若大祭司犯罪，禍及眾民，他必須獻給耶和華一頭毫無殘疾的公牛犢作贖罪祭。他要把公牛犢牽到會幕門口，將手放在牛頭上，在耶和華面前宰牛。他要取一些牛血帶進會幕裡，在耶和華面前用手指蘸血向聖所的幔子彈灑七次，也要把一些血抹在耶和華面前的香壇的四角上，然後把剩下的血倒在會幕門口的燔祭壇腳旁。他要取出作贖罪祭的公牛犢的所有脂肪，包括遮蓋內臟的脂肪和內臟上的脂肪、兩個腎臟和腎臟上靠近腰部的脂肪以及肝葉，正如取出平安祭牲的脂肪一樣。他要將這一切放在燔祭壇上焚燒。至於公牛剩下的部分，即皮、所有的肉、頭顱、腿、內臟和糞便，他要帶到營外潔淨之處，就是倒壇灰的地方，放在柴上焚燒。

既然這祭牲的血沒有被帶進聖所，你們本應按照我的吩咐在聖潔之處吃這祭肉。」

大祭司把祭牲的血帶進聖所作為贖罪祭獻上，而祭牲的身體則在營外燒掉。

作贖罪祭的公牛和公山羊的血被帶進聖所用來贖罪，要把公牛和公山羊帶到營外，用火焚燒牠們的皮、肉和糞。負責焚燒的人要洗衣、沐浴，然後才可回到營裡。

現在基督已經來到，作了美好新約的大祭司，祂進入了那更偉大、更全備、非人手建造、不屬於這個世界的聖幕。祂只進入至聖所一次便完成了永遠的救贖，用的不是山羊和牛犢的血，而是自己的血。
