I myself will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.

I myself will destroy your land so completely that your enemies who live there will be shocked.

And I myself will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be appalled at it.

Yes, I myself will devastate your land, and your enemies who come to occupy it will be appalled at what they see.

I also will devastate the land, so that your enemies who come to live there will be appalled by it.

And I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled at it.

Thorns and briers will come up on my people’s land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks,

“ But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.

For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate. The foxes walk on it.

Your holy cities have become a wilderness. Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

I will lay it a wasteland. It won’t be pruned or hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.”

For though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls:

He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land has become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppression, and because of his fierce anger.

Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.

Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.

Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.
