他又對我說：『人子啊，看吧，我必折斷耶路撒冷中糧食的支杖；他們喫飯要按分兩、懷着掛慮的心情喫；他們喝水也要按分量驚慌慌地喝。

他呼喚了饑荒降於那地上，把糧食的支杖全給折斷，

你們撒種，倒撒的多，收入的卻少；你們喫，卻喫不飽；喝，卻喝不足；有得穿，卻穿不暖；得了工錢，卻把工錢裝到刺破的口袋裏！

『人子啊，若有一國行為不忠實，犯罪得罪了我，而我伸手攻擊它，折斷它糧食的支杖，使饑荒臨到那地，將人和牲口都從那裏剪除掉，

人右邊割肉喫，仍然饑餓；左邊吞喫，仍不覺得飽：各人竟喫自己膀臂的肉；

野狗尚且把奶頭給崽子喫奶，我的眾民倒殘忍，像曠野的鴕鳥一樣啊！喫奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴而貼住上膛；孩童求餅，無人擘給他們。那素來喫爽口物的、如今在街上淒涼涼；那素來在朱紅褥子養大的、如今抱着糞堆睡。都因我眾民的罪孽比所多瑪的罪還大；雖無懲罰的手旋轉於所多瑪之上，它還在一眨眼間就被傾覆。錫安貴族素來比雪還純淨，比奶子還皎潔；他們軀體上比紅寶石還紅；其體格像藍寶石一樣。現在他們的面貌比煤炭還黑，以致在街上人都不認識；他們的皮縮攏到骨頭上，枯乾像木頭。被刀刺死的比被饑荒餓死的還好，因為前者雖被刺傷，還可以喫田間的出產。

你所喫的糧食要按分兩喫，每日二十舍客勒，按時按時地喫。

他們喫，也喫不飽；他們行淫，卻不能得滿意；因為他們離棄了永恆主去躭於行淫。

儘管他們禁食，我也不聽他們的喊求；儘管他們獻上燔祭和素祭，我也不悅納；我卻要用刀劍、饑荒、和瘟疫去滅盡他們。』
