“‘ Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not try to get even. Do not hold anything against any of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.

And the second is like it:‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

And the second, like it, is this:‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”So the scribe said to Him,“ Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He.And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” But after that no one dared question Him.

So he answered and said,“‘ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and‘ your neighbor as yourself.’”And He said to him,“ You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”Then Jesus answered and said:“ A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him,‘ Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”And he said,“ He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him,“ Go and do likewise.”

‘ Honor your father and your mother,’ and,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written,“ Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

“ You have heard that it was said,‘ You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

“ If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it.

Now behold, one came and said to Him,“ Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying,“ Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

Do not say,“ I will recompense evil”; Wait for the Lord, and He will save you.

The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within For the young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

For we know Him who said,“ Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again,“ The Lord will judge His people.”

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

And Absalom spoke to his brother Amnon neither good nor bad. For Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.
