“‘ Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.“‘ Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.

Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

“ Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.

“ You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns.You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets( for he is poor and counts on it), lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.

Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord.

if I have eaten its yield without payment and made its owners breathe their last,

Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

You know the commandments:‘ Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”

and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.“ If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him.If ever you take your neighbor’s cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down,for that is his only covering, and it is his cloak for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and have extorted from the sojourner without justice.

If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall come near to God to show whether or not he has put his hand to his neighbor’s property.For every breach of trust, whether it is for an ox, for a donkey, for a sheep, for a cloak, or for any kind of lost thing, of which one says,‘ This is it,’ the case of both parties shall come before God. The one whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.

“ Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice, who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages,

Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate,

or has found something lost and lied about it, swearing falsely— in any of all the things that people do and sin thereby—

that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.

If the owner was with it, he shall not make restitution; if it was hired, it came for its hiring fee.

If it is torn by beasts, let him bring it as evidence. He shall not make restitution for what has been torn.

“ You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

And he said to them,“ Collect no more than you are authorized to do.”
