野狗尚且把奶乳哺其子，我民的妇人倒成为残忍，好像旷野的鸵鸟一般。

野狗尚且哺乳其子，我百姓的妇人反倒残忍，如旷野的鸵鸟一般；

野狗尚且哺乳其子，我百姓的妇人反倒残忍，如旷野的鸵鸟一般；

豺狼尚且哺养自己的幼儿，我的子民却像荒野的鸵鸟一样残忍无情。

野狗尚且用乳房哺养它们的幼儿；但我的众民变得多么残忍，像旷野的鸵鸟一样。

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.

Even wild dogs nurse their young pups. But my people are as mean as ostriches in the desert.

“ The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?For she leaves her eggs on the ground, And warms them in the dust;She forgets that a foot may crush them, Or that a wild beast may break them.She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers; Her labor is in vain, without concern,

The hands of the compassionate women Have cooked their own children; They became food for them In the destruction of the daughter of my people.

“ They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the Lord your God has given you.You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and your daughters whom the Lord your God has given you, in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you.The sensitive and very refined man among you will be hostile toward his brother, toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the rest of his children whom he leaves behind,so that he will not give any of them the flesh of his children whom he will eat, because he has nothing left in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you at all your gates.The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her delicateness and sensitivity, will refuse to the husband of her bosom, and to her son and her daughter,her placenta which comes out from between her feet and her children whom she bears; for she will eat them secretly for lack of everything in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you at all your gates.

“ See, O Lord, and consider! To whom have You done this? Should the women eat their offspring, The children they have cuddled? Should the priest and prophet be slain In the sanctuary of the Lord?

You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.

But Jesus, turning to them, said,“ Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.For indeed the days are coming in which they will say,‘ Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!’

undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;

Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying,“ Help, my Lord, O king!”And he said,“ If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?”Then the king said to her,“ What is troubling you?” And she answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.”

“ Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.
