And if I hold my head high, you hunt me like a lion and display your awesome power against me.

Who is the king of Israel trying to catch anyway? Should he spend his time chasing one who is as worthless as a dead dog or a single flea?

And the Lord said,“ That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.”

Don’t let liars prosper here in our land. Cause great disasters to fall on the violent.

When King Zedekiah of Judah and all the soldiers saw that the Babylonians had broken into the city, they fled. They waited for nightfall and then slipped through the gate between the two walls behind the king’s garden and headed toward the Jordan Valley.But the Babylonian troops chased them and overtook Zedekiah on the plains of Jericho. They captured him and took him to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who was at Riblah in the land of Hamath. There the king of Babylon pronounced judgment upon Zedekiah.

“ Son of man, you’ve heard that proverb they quote in Israel:‘ Time passes, and prophecies come to nothing.’Tell the people,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will put an end to this proverb, and you will soon stop quoting it.’ Now give them this new proverb to replace the old one:‘ The time has come for every prophecy to be fulfilled!’
