I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit.

Lord, I called out to you. I called out from the bottom of the pit.

“ I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit;

But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit.

I called on your name, LORD, from the depths of the pit.

I called on Your name, Lord, Out of the lowest pit.

I called upon thy name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest dungeon.

I called on Your name, Yahweh, from the depths of the Pit.

I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

I have called on your name, O LORD, from the deepest pit.

I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon.

Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.But Paul called with a loud voice, saying,“ Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”

The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow.Then I called upon the name of the Lord:“ O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Therefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze fetters, and carried him off to Babylon.Now when he was in affliction, he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.

But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation.Deliver me out of the mire, And let me not sink; Let me be delivered from those who hate me, And out of the deep waters.Let not the floodwater overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth on me.Hear me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in trouble; Hear me speedily.Draw near to my soul, and redeem it; Deliver me because of my enemies.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me.Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.I cried out to You, O Lord: I said,“ You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I.Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.”

And he said:“ I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me.“ Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.Then I said,‘ I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’

The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.
