I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit.

Lord, I called out to you. I called out from the bottom of the pit.

“ I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit;

But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit.

I called on your name, LORD, from the depths of the pit.

I called on Your name, O Lord, From the lowest pit.

I called upon thy name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest dungeon.

I called on Your name, Yahweh, from the depths of the Pit.

I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

I have called on your name, O LORD, from the deepest pit.

I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon.

and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped.But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying,“ Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!”

The snares of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.Then I called upon the name of the Lord:“ Please, Lord, save my life!”

So they took Jeremiah and threw him into the cistern of Malchijah the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guardhouse; and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. Now in the cistern there was no water but only mud, and Jeremiah sank into the mud.

Therefore the Lord brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze chains, and led him to Babylon.When he was in distress, he appeased the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

Out of the depths I have cried to You, Lord.Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the sound of my pleadings.

But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth.Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink; May I be rescued from those who hate me, and from the depths of water.May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit close its mouth on me.Answer me, Lord, for Your mercy is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.Come near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!

When my spirit felt weak within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me favorably; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.I cried out to You, Lord; I said,“ You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will look after me.”

and he said,“ I called out of my distress to the Lord, And He answered me. I called for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice.For You threw me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current flowed around me. All Your breakers and waves passed over me.So I said,‘ I have been cast out of Your sight. Nevertheless I will look again toward Your holy temple.’

The ropes of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He reached down to me and heard my cry.He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.
