being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.

And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the Lord will drive you.

I have become the ridicule of all my people— Their taunting song all the day.

They wandered blind in the streets; They have defiled themselves with blood, So that no one would touch their garments.They cried out to them,“ Go away, unclean! Go away, go away, Do not touch us!” When they fled and wandered, Those among the nations said,“ They shall no longer dwell here.”

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.
